Empowering First Responders: EV Safety Training with SES

As electric vehicles (EVs) become more common on our roads, emergency responders must be equipped with the right knowledge and skills to handle them safely during accidents and rescue operations. Recognising the importance of EV safety education, our founder, Louis Ching, together with other EV owners, volunteered in SES Rescue Training on EV Safety in June 2022, sharing critical insights into EV hazards, extrication techniques, and battery technology.

Addressing the Unique Challenges of EV Rescues

Traditional vehicle rescue operations often rely on established methods for dealing with internal combustion engine (ICE) cars, but EVs present a new set of challenges such as High-voltage battery systems that pose electrocution risks if mishandled, Thermal runaway and fire risks associated with damaged lithium-ion batteries and Structural differences that require modified extrication techniques

During the training session, Louis worked alongside SES rescue teams, discussing best practices for identifying and disabling high-voltage systems, locating battery packs, and ensuring safe vehicle stabilisation before attempting an extrication.

Hands-On Training & Practical Scenarios

To give first responders a real-world understanding, Louis communicated with them about:
-Safe isolation of high-voltage systems before cutting into the vehicle
-How to handle battery leaks, fires, or structural failures during a crash

By sharing his expertise, he helped enhance the knowledge and confidence of SES teams when responding to EV-related incidents.

Building a Safer EV Future

At our company, we believe that safety and innovation go hand in hand. Our commitment to supporting first responders, emergency services, and industry professionals ensures that the shift to electric mobility is not only sustainable but also secure for everyone on the road.

We are proud of continued dedication to EV education and safety training, and we look forward to further collaborations with emergency response organisations to ensure a safer future for all road users.
